What The World Is Saying:
A rock song, like a hymn to hope, with some folk, even country, accents in the acoustic arrangements. The male vocal interpretation is full of emotion and propels poetic imagery impregnated with positive messages, as does the video clip that skillfully supports the words evoked with beauty.

ABOUT BETTER LATE & TIMOTHY J
Calgary’s rock ambassador, Tim Cambridge — A.K.A. Timothy J — is back with another triumphant single in “Better Late.”
The track (which shares the namesake of the band’s upcoming debut album) reminds its listeners that no matter what junction in life you find yourself in, it’s always better to pick yourself up and make strides to achieve a goal instead of not doing it at all.
“It has three distinct stories. A message that it's never too late to do or to be who you want. Don’t give up...anything is possible no matter where you are in life,” says Cambridge. Further driving the point home by enthusiastically quoting the track’s chorus,“ IT’S BETTER LATE THAN NOT.”
In terms of composition, “Better Late” is an anthem for the uncertain, packed with questions about what could have been and what could be. Opening with the gentle plucking of acoustic guitar and leading into Cambridge’s smoky lyrical reflections, until kicking off into its bombastic chorus—made all the more unrelenting by the backing electric guitar and drums.
“I hope fans can take something positive… and find something they have in common or can relate to in their own lives,” says Cambridge.
Cambridge’s own attitude is deftly displayed in his lyrical choices, as he has gone on record about how his staunch positive outlook often bleeds into his songwriting.
One particular chorus line states, “I wasted so much time when I was young / my wheels spun the same country songs / time went by, seems I found my stride / looking back it was a bumpy ride.”
“Better Late” is just a sliver of Cambridge’s rock and roll wisdom, with the rest set to come when the album debuts this October.
Originally from Northern Alberta, Cambridge started the Timothy J project with his long-time guitarist/producer, Daron Schofield, in 2018. Together they found a band with other Calgary talent, Jaret Hunchak on drums and Jamie Warren on bass.
